Derrick Anderson, Former Special Forces Green Beret and Attorney, Announces Candidacy For The Republican Nomination in Virginia’s 7th District

HENRICO, VA – Today, Derrick Anderson announced that he is running for the Republican Nomination for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.  Derrick Anderson is a native of Spotsylvania County, was in the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech, and received his J.D. from Georgetown Law.  He is a former Special Forces “Green Beret” with 6 tours of duty overseas, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and various countries throughout the Middle East.

“I have spent my life serving this country overseas, including combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Watching President Biden and Washington Democrats squander 20 years of sacrifices made by our service members and their families was the final straw for me.  I can no longer remain silent on the sidelines, so I am running for Congress to bring the needed leadership to Virginia’s 7th Congressional District,” Derrick said.  “Abigail Spanberger claimed she would be a leader for all constituents in the 7th, but instead, she has sided with Nancy Pelosi and the progressive agenda in Washington time and time again,” Derrick continued.

“Though I no longer wear a United States Army uniform, it does not mean I can no longer serve this nation.  I pledge to be the representative the people of Virginia’s 7th District deserve and are owed.  We cannot continue to let the extreme agenda of Democrats in Washington, whom Abigail Spanberger is in lock step with, continue down this road of failed policies that eliminate jobs, make our communities unsafe, and our country weak on the national stage,” said Anderson.  “I will run a tireless campaign to take back our country and help win back the United States House Representatives, starting here in Central Virginia by defeating Abigail Spanberger.”
